Terms of sale
Last updated [[DATE]]
These terms cover buying from Altytude. Please read them before you order — by placing an order you agree to them.
[[THESE TERMS ARE A STARTING POINT WRITTEN ALONGSIDE THE CODE, NOT LEGAL ADVICE. HAVE THEM REVIEWED BEFORE YOU TAKE REAL MONEY — PARTICULARLY THE CANCELLATION SECTION, WHICH IS THE ONE MOST OFTEN GOT WRONG FOR MADE-TO-ORDER GOODS. SEE docs/DATA-PROTECTION.md]]
Who you are buying from
[[LEGAL ENTITY NAME]][[COMPANY NUMBER, IF ANY]], registered at [[REGISTERED ADDRESS]]. [[VAT NUMBER, IF REGISTERED]] Contact us at [[CUSTOMER SERVICE EMAIL]].
What you are buying
Every item is made to order. Where you design your own map, the printed artwork is generated from the coordinates and settings you chose. Contour lines are derived from public elevation datasets, and the level of detail available varies by location — a map of somewhere flat, or somewhere the data covers poorly, will look it. What you see in the designer preview is drawn by the same code that produces the print file.
Colours on a printed garment will not match a backlit screen exactly, and the same design printed on different fabrics will vary slightly. This is normal for printed goods and is not a fault.
Orders and prices
Your order is an offer to buy. It is accepted when we confirm payment, at which point a contract exists. Prices are shown in [[CURRENCY — MUST MATCH THE `CURRENCY` SETTING]] and include [[STATE WHETHER PRICES INCLUDE VAT]]. Shipping to UK addresses is free; to anywhere else it is calculated at checkout.
Prices and stock are drawn from our catalogue at the moment you check out. If an item goes out of stock at our printer between adding it to your basket and paying, we will tell you before payment rather than after.
If a price is obviously wrong — a mis-keyed figure rather than a bargain — we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than fulfil it.
Payment
Payment is taken by Stripe. We never receive or store your card details. Your card is charged when you complete checkout.
Delivery
Items are printed and shipped by our print partner. Estimated times are shown at checkout and are estimates, not guarantees. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
We ship to the countries listed at checkout. Any import duty or tax charged on arrival in your country is yours to pay.
Cancellation and returns
Custom maps. Under regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the 14-day right to cancel does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised. A map you designed yourself is such an item, and once it has gone to print we cannot accept it back simply because you changed your mind.
Pre-designed maps. [[STATE YOUR POSITION. THESE ARE PRINTED ON DEMAND BUT NOT PERSONALISED, SO THE 14-DAY RIGHT TO CANCEL IS MORE LIKELY TO APPLY. TAKE ADVICE RATHER THAN GUESSING]]
Before it prints. If you spot a mistake, email us immediately. Orders are not sent to production instantly and we will cancel and refund in full if we can reach yours in time.
If something is wrong with it. None of the above affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If an item arrives faulty, damaged, or not as described, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. Email us with a photograph and we will put it right at our cost.
Your design, and what you may map
You keep ownership of the design you create. You grant us the licence we need to print and ship it — and nothing more. We do not sell, publish or reuse your designs, and the label you add is used only on your own artwork.
You are responsible for the text you add to a design. Do not submit anything unlawful, defamatory, or infringing someone else's trade mark or copyright. We may refuse or cancel an order whose label breaches this, and will refund it.
Map data
Elevation data comes from AWS Terrain Tiles (SRTM, USGS 3DEP, GMTED2010 and others). Place search and the reference basemap come from OpenStreetMap, © the OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence.
Our liability
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Subject to that, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.
Privacy
What we do with your data is set out in our privacy notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [[ENGLAND AND WALES / SCOTLAND / NORTHERN IRELAND]], and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the country you live in.
